INLAND COURSES

Scotland is famous the world over for its links courses. However, if you head inland, you will also some find some courses which are absolutely worth playing as you travel around the country. Gleneagles is one of the great golf hotels of the world and on the way to the Highlands from the Central Belt you will find many wonderful hidden gems.

Stopping off at one of these courses is not only a great way to break up a journey, but you will also get a different perspective on Scottish golf beyond links courses. Some of the scenery on these courses is spectacular.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Gleneagles, in the heart of Scotland, is home to three courses. The Kings’s and Queen’s are both exquisite heathland courses while the PGA Centenary (host to the Ryder Cup) is a more US-style Jack Nicklaus course. The whole set-up in Gleneagles is pretty special, with wonderful practice facilities, two short courses and a world class hotel.

On the road to Inverness there are real gems at the likes of Pitlochry and Boat of Garten too. Golf here tends to have more undulation than on links courses and you are exposed to a different kind of golf. If travelling up to Scotland from England, Lanark is another course well worth considering.
